The super amazing Jennifer Harrison (Bella Magazine) joins the show this morning to sit in for Andrew McKay.
The 8am hour has Principal Richard Shackle of Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola joining Jennifer this morning. He won the statewide Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Award in early 2026 for his effective work at the high-risk public school. He previously served as principal at Tate High School. He talks about searching for scholarships early, registering for classes, academic career progessing, ACT and SAT test scores. Last year they had 16 seniors that graduated with a higher than a 4.0 GPA. Principal Shackle talks about taking AP classes and dual enrollment.
Sam Strickland is the President of our Escambia County Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides training between the units, insure compliance, accounting and building community across the schools like monthly events. They do "Connection Cafes" where they field questions about the schools. You can volunteer with your local PTA. Family participation is a huge thing for children and the schools. Tools for Teachers program is a specialized online resource store run by the Escambia County Public Schools Foundation. It provides free classroom supplies—such as copy paper, dry-erase markers, snacks, and tissues—in partnership with the district warehouse to keep educators from spending their own money
