property taxes and homestead exemptions. Budgets for one fire district in Pace was three times their budget from year before -
some arent paying property taxes - every year you live in your house - it cant go up more than 3% per year for taxes if youre homesteaded. Folks who move in new - dont immediately get beneift of homestead tax exemption. Statewide Tax referendum. Early voting is this week.
Councilwoman for Pensacola District 1, Jennifer Brahier, joins the show to discuss: concerns and highlights in the budget as its being presented today - concerns: LOST which will also be on the ballot in the fall - biggest concern is shifting money from general fund to LOST (local option sales tax).
Jennifer is serving on the canvasing board. That includes putting the ballots through the machine, getting ballots read properly. Testing the machines , going through signatures ballots that were mailed in making sure people domt overvote or undervote - . Doing work behind the scenes and making sure the peoples choices are protected. There are three on the canvasing board.
